Emujean Goliath
background
I am Emujean Goliath Born in Port Elizabeth eastern cape South Africa! Grew up in Bethelsdorp “northern areas”. One of my biggest risks was entering into the space of entrepreneurship! Since a child I’ve always had a desire to have something of my own that people would know me well for! After completing High school, of which my last 2 years I spent living in a container with my parents and siblings. I then applied at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University for architecture and civil engineering, but unfortunately, I was rejected twice. I started working at a company called Inyani civil works,After working at inyani for 2 and half years I decided to quit, I then moved into transportation, mainly uber! Managed vehicles for other people as well as my own, I was also doing graphic designing, doing posters, flyers and business cards, registering companies etc. so when covid hit everything just stood still… silent for 6 months thereafter and as soon as they introduced a time curfew in our city, I went out driving as an essential service, transporting people to work, to hospitals and other places
Then I started doing woodwork, in my father-in-law’s
backyard, he worked with me and shockingly the
woodwork was taking off in this covid time! shortly after i went ahead to rent a workshop with my pregnant wife and dughter went to live in and do my work.
unfortunately, so many factors played a
role, from dust to sleeping arrangements to using the
bathroom and cooking and eating! But we kept persisting,
my wife being pregnant with our second child had to
constantly walk up and down the stairs everyday 3 to 4
times at night to get to a bathroom! Things were so tight!
Unfortunately, it didn’t
work out as we planned and a year later, we moved out of
the workshop our separate ways! And this was yet one of
the biggest risks I took then! Just made it month to month
no extra, no finances available we were literally at zero
each month lived on noodles and bread! which taste
amazing by the way!...
We have made many mistakes in the past which we are all
grateful for as it has grown us, empowered us to change
our perspectives and outlook on life! Since then, I have
done my best to make decisions that did not lead to the
same results! And we will never truly be at the point we
are fulfilled with what we have as we will always want to
do more be more in life! Because of all I have experienced I
could use it to my advantage and build all that I have
today!! Business! Friendships! Relationships!! An amazing family I have today who get to grow up in a better
environment and space than my wife and I did!
